Here are some essential candle care instructions to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience:

Candle Care Instructions

  1. Trim the Wick: Before lighting, trim the wick to about 1/4 inch. This helps prevent excessive soot and ensures an even burn.

  1. Burn Time: For the first use, burn your candle for at least 1-2 hours to allow the wax to pool evenly. This prevents tunneling. No more than 4 hours for each burn.

  1. Keep Away from Drafts: Place your candle in a draft-free area to avoid uneven burning and smoke.

  1. Monitor the Burn: Never leave a burning candle unattended. Keep it out of reach of children and pets.

  1. Extinguishing: Use a candle snuffer or gently blow out the flame. Avoid using water, as it can cause the wax to splatter.

  1. Storage: Store candles in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent fading and warping.

  1. Container Care: If using a container candle, stop burning when there’s about 1/2 inch of wax left to avoid overheating the container.

  1. Clean Up Spills: Clean any wax spills with warm, soapy water. Avoid using sharp objects to scrape the wax.

Common Candle Safety Tips

  1. Never Leave Unattended: Always extinguish candles when leaving a room or going to bed.

  1. Keep Away from Flammable Items: Place candles away from curtains, paper, and other flammable materials.

  1. Use a Stable Surface: Ensure candles are on a flat, stable surface to prevent tipping.

  1. Keep Out of Reach: Keep candles away from children and pets to avoid accidents.

  1. Avoid Drafts: Position candles away from drafts, vents, and fans to prevent uneven burning and soot.

  1. Monitor Burn Time: Follow recommended burn times and extinguish when the wax is low (about 1/2 inch).

  1. Use Candle Holders: Always use appropriate holders that can contain wax and withstand heat.

  1. Don’t Move While Lit: Avoid moving candles while they are burning or if the wax is still liquid.

  1. Extinguish Properly: Use a candle snuffer or blow gently to extinguish the flame; avoid using water.

  1. Check for Soot: If you notice excessive soot or a flickering flame, extinguish the candle and trim the wick.
